Kiwanis Club awards Scholarships to Deserving ACHS Students!
The Kiwanis Club of American Canyon, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been serving the community for more than thirteen years and one of their major priorities has been to assist in the development of our young people into capable and responsible future members of our community and our world at large. The Kiwanis club is dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The academic assistance scholarship program was created with just that purpose in mind: to assist deserving students financially and permit them the opportunity to obtain an undergraduate degree from a public college or university.
On May 22, 2013, the Kiwanis Club of American Canyon saw all their club efforts in service (such as in the Season of Giving and Kiwanis One Day) and in fundraising (Annual Crab Feed) pay off as the club awarded four Kiwanis scholarships to the selected students of the first senior class of American Canyon High School! Those selected based on academic achievement and community service were: Aileen Malijan, Marissa Vasquez, Colleen Bohannan, and Linda Phorth. Aileen and Marissa each received a $500 scholarship. Colleen and Linda each received a $1,000 renewable (up to 4 years) scholarship.
Congratulations to the 1st Senior Class of American Canyon High (Class of 2013) and to the Kiwanis Club Scholarship winners! We are all proud of you as you begin your journey into college.
So far the Kiwanis Club of American Canyon has been awarding scholarships to deserving seniors on a yearly basis since 2013.
